We believe that God's Word is an anchor to our very souls. Learning to apply His Word to our wounds and struggles will help keep from losing our way.
I knew I had a call on my life to be a pastor/counselor and so I had gotten my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and worked in Mental Health services for several years before becoming disillusioned and burned out. Leaving my vocation, I took a job delivering pizza to put food on the table with a family with 3 kids at home. In the meantime, I was sharing in a leadership capacity at my local church. In 1995 I was ordained as an elder in my church. During my ordination service, I had a prophetic Word spoken over me that I would find my "identity before my function." At the time I didn't fully understand that Word. In 1998 I had a life-changing revelation of our Heavenly Father's love. It was in that encounter that I came to understand my identity as God's child and for the first time in my life, I recognized that I was safe and secure in His love. Prior to this moment, I would try to find my worth and value in what I did, especially in ministry activities. The insight I received was I was finding my worth and value by serving and helping people and ministry. Once I encountered my Heavenly Fathers Love, my identity was secure in His love alone and not in ministry or religious and counseling work.
Following my encounter with God's Love, people began to contact me for prayer and counseling. This is when I started Living Hope Ministries. I finally knew that my function was to be a pastor and counselor in the Body of Christ. This time my motivation was completely different. I no longer needed my value and worth from the people I was serving, instead, I was coming alongside them to help them find hope, provide comfort, and discover the purpose that God has ordained for them.
